UMBC celebrated National Engineers Week by having a week full of a variety of activities and events. Events included a “Fungineering” research lab open house and included speakers from Northrop Grumman, the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab and a number of UMBC faculty such as Charles LaBerge, the director of computer engineering undergraduate program. Wrapping up the week was the exciting “Battle of the Engineers,” a competition where engineering students from different departments compete to win the trophy. Computer engineers won the trophy this year in first place, Chemical engineers came in second and mechanical engineers were third.
