Today, I sat down and talked politics with our current SGA President, Anthony Jankoski. We discussed his vision for the campus, why he got into it and, of course, his opinion on the latest Kanye.
What convinced you to go into SGA politics?
Firstly, the exclusive culture of SGA was off-putting, and I wanted to change that, and secondly, I wanted to be more involved on campus. I had a lot of friends who were in SGA at the time. My friend Jeffrey was President, and when elections came around, he asked me if I would like to join him for campaigning. I said yes, and I have not regretted that decision.
What has been your biggest accomplishment as the SGA President?
My biggest accomplishment has been working with SEB to get an artist for Quadmania that would excite more of the student body.
What is something you wish you could’ve done in your term as President?
I wish that I could have accomplished free printing for the student body. However, with the setbacks in the fall, the timeline to accomplish that was compromised.
What do you want to say to your detractors?
There’s levels to this ish.
What is your most ambitious idea for our campus?
I think that my most ambitious idea for this campus is a substantially larger student organization allocation fund. This is because student events are necessary for promoting campus life, and because they would keep campus alive, so to speak, throughout the week and on weekends.
What are your post-graduation plans?
I will be attending Northwestern University’s School of Law in Chicago. The law school gave me a generous offer, so generous that I couldn’t refuse.
What advice would you give to your successor?
No matter how much people may try to discourage you as a leader from pursuing the greater good, just remember that their happiness matters too.
One final question: What is your opinion on “The Life of Pablo?”
Life of Pablo, great album. But I miss the old Kanye, chop up the soul Kanye.
