Feb. 17 In an interview with the Baltimore Sun, Baltimore City Schools CEO said that school officials were reviewing various options for school budget cuts. Baltimore schools currently face a deficit of over $60 million.
Feb. 18 Baltimore-based athletic apparel company Under Armour filed a lawsuit against a Fort Lauderdale company called Ass Armour for alleged trademark infringement. Under Armour accused Ass Armour of copying its shock-absorbing athletic shorts design.
Feb. 19 A group of Baltimore students, parents, teachers, and community leaders protested Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan’s proposed cuts to city schools. Hogan’s proposed budget would reduce funding for Baltimore schools by $35 million for the fiscal year 2015.
Feb. 20 Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly announced that Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) will become a larger hub for the airline’s international expansion. BWI was Southwest’s second-busiest hub last year.
Feb. 21 A mayoral task force stated that police body cameras ought to yield more data on officer-citizen interactions. The task force recommended a pilot program before implementing them among all patrolling city officers.
