In light of the recent passing of Nicholas Ramundo, members of the Shriver Center as well as other communities here at UMBC have taken the week following his death to grieve.
Nicholas Ramundo, 22, collapsed suddenly in the RAC on March 27, 2015, and was unable to be resuscitated. He passed away soon afterward.
An AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer, Ramundo volunteered at the Shriver Center assisting students from the SUCCESS Program, which works to provide college experiences to Maryland students with intellectual disabilities. Ramundo also ran the Arbutus Achievers Club, an organization that partners at-risk Arbutus Middle School students with tutors from UMBC.
After his passing, employees of the Shriver Center as well as those who’ve grown close to Ramundo during his time at UMBC have taken the week to mourn. Some employees have chosen not to respond to emails for a couple of days.
Visitation was held on Wed. Apr. 1 in West Nyack, NY while a wake was held on Friday, Apr. 3, on UMBC’s campus at the Community Center.
