Famous Dave’s is a restaurant that has gained notoriety in the area, and around the country for their stellar barbecue. Now, they can add philanthropy to their list of known attributes.
Famous Dave’s Legendary Pit Bar-B-Que announced on August 24 that they will be partnering with Special Olympics Maryland to raise awareness and funds to support the athletes participating.
Funds will be raised for 7,169 athletes with intellectual disabilities. These athletes range in ages from eight to 90, and train and compete in 27 sports year round.
Their first series of events they will host in this partnership will be “Unified Backyard Bocce and Barbeque” tournaments. Community members and Special Olympics members will team up and compete in 30 minute matches.
The events will be held all in September on the 12, 19 and 26 at six locations in Maryland. On September 12, the events will be hosted at Famous Dave’s Annapolis and Famous Dave’s Fredrick. On September 19, the events will be hosted at the Bel Air and Columbia Locations. And on Saturday, Sept. 26, they will be hosted at the Timonium and Germantown Locations.
In addition to the games, Famous Dave’s will be donating two dollars from every “Brave in the attempt” platter in hopes of reaching $35,000 that will benefit the Special Olympics Maryland organization.
It will be a day filled with competitive fun for all, good food and contributions to a good cause.
