Chattin’ With: Women’s Club Lax

This week, Richard Elliott chats with a representative from women’s club lacrosse.

How did you come across the club lacrosse team?

During Involvement Fest, I was walking and I saw the club lacrosse team. They had a big sign and I felt welcome. They were very nice and open. They told me about how the team works.

What do you enjoy about playing lacrosse?

rsz_20151025_112334I enjoy the “family” aspect of the team, with the closeness and togetherness. Sportwise, it is not a “me” game; you need your team. Everyone must contribute or the team falls apart.

Would you rather play on the club team or receive a scholarship and play on the varsity team?

I think it would be cool to have the experience of playing on an official, D1 sports team.

What are some great moments you’ve had on the team?

Beating Johns Hopkins lacrosse team 11-2 on October 25 was a great team moment. Basically every player on the team scored in that game.

If someone would like to join the team, when do you practice and what do you recommend that they work on?

Everyone of all skill sets is welcome to join our team. For fall, we practice from 6-7 p.m. on the turf stadium on Mondays and Wednesdays. In spring, we will practice on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7-8:30 p.m. on the turf stadium. We play about 10 games in the spring, all over the weekends. I would recommend you work on throwing and passing. Wall ball is a good practice technique.
