Oct. 29 A Baltimore police officer was formally charged with assault and perjury by city prosecutors. Officer Vincent E. Cosom Jr. had been caught beating a man unprovokedly by surveillance video on E. North Ave. in June, and had lied stating that the man, Kollin Truss, had assaulted him first.

 

Oct. 30 Baltimore’s former chief of transit and marine services, BArry Stephen Robinson, was indicted on charges of bribery by federal prosecutors. Robinson allegedly accepted $90,000 in bribes in two separate incidents.

 

Oct. 31 Baltimore housing authorities concluded its Section 8 federal housing voucher applications. Approximately 74,000 for the voucher wait list, the first in a decade

 

Nov. 1 An Annapolis man was charged by federal prosecutors for sending threatening emails to U.S. President Barack Obama. 42-year old Christopher Perkins O’Brien had sent an email filled with racial obscenities and threatening the life of the president and his family on October 16.

 

Nov. 2 At least 100 protesters were arrested in France this weekend due to clashes with riot police after crowds rallied against police brutality in several cities across the country. The demonstrators protested the death of 21-year-old ecology activist Remi Fraisse, which was apparently caused by a police stun grenade last weekend.

 

Nov. 3 A former Towson based gynecologist was sentenced to a year prison for the illegal distribution of painkillers to his girlfriend and two others. Dr. John Yacoub pleaded guilty in May to conspiracy and intent to distribute drugs including hydrocodone, oxycodone and fentanyl, avoiding a trial and penalties of up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
