Following a spree of bike thefts and a campus crime alert this month, two arrests have made by UMBC police. Since the beginning of the semester eleven bikes have been stolen from residential areas around campus. On Monday, September a student alerted campus police to “several suspicious individuals near the bicycle rack outside of Harbor Hall,” according to an email sent out by Paul Dillon, UMBC’s Deputy Chief of Police.

According to the arrest alert, “UMBC Police who were already in the area were able to apprehend and arrest two non-students for the attempted theft of a bicycle. The police also recovered bolt cutters from the suspects.”
The arrests led to the recovery of a bike in Baltimore City and police believe that more suspects will be identified.
